I asked people what they want the cards to look like, and this was the most popular option. This is what I plan for the cards to look like. I have to get to work to make sure all the cards use the new look. Take a look at the cards below. Continue reading

Advanced Crazier Eights Spoiler
Update (7/21/15): The Advanced version is now going to be the Second Edition. You can see the spoiler here.
Advanced Crazier Eights is related to various stretch goals on the Crazier Eights Kickstarter Campaign. Here are eight cards from the Advanced Crazier Eights prototype. Three of them were already shown, and five of them are here because there’s now 30 likes on the Crazier Eights Facebook page, and five will be shown for every 25 likes on the Facebook fan page. (That’s a good place to keep in touch and let me know what your preferences are.) Continue reading
Ideas for Changing the Look of Crazier Eights Part II
There’s a good chance that the colors and suit symbol associations will be changed to be pretty much what was discussed as option 4 in part 1. (Go here to take a look.) I am thinking that I will keep the Sun symbol for orange, but I could use a star symbol instead.
Now I have four more ideas for changing the layout and look of the cards that I am considering. Take a look, and let me know what you think. Continue reading
Ideas for Stretch Goal Promo Rewards
I said that if the Crazier Eights Kickstarter Campaign gets overfunded (by reaching $6,000) that I would include some new promo cards with each copy of the game (at least the copies that are made from the Kickstarter funding). I haven’t decided what they should be yet, but I thought of some new ideas. I am thinking that three new cards would be included. Let me know what you think. Continue reading
Effective Banner Advertising on Board Game Geek
I have been advertising on Board Game Geek (out of pocket) and found out which of my banners were doing very well or poorly. This is the information I got for three different banner sizes after advertising there for four or five days.
One difficult question is what banner ads will actually do well. Board Game Geek will allow you to submit several banner ads, and they can tell you which ones are working well (and they make sure the use effective banner ads the most). Continue reading
Ideas for Changing the Look of Crazier Eights (Updated)
Although some people think that the Crazier Eights cards looks a lot like Magic: the Gathering, the card frame and layout are both different from Magic cards. Even so, it might be a good idea to change the look of the Crazier Eights cards to some extent. Continue reading
Custom Card Reward
I will now have a reward level for the Crazier Eights Kickstarter to get your own custom card. You will get four copies of the unique card (possibly one for each color). You choose the art, name, and text (with certain restrictions). This is a limited offer — only twenty people can get this reward and it will be no longer available after 2 July 2014. Continue reading
The Historical Development of Crazier Eights
Over ten years ago (perhaps in 2004) my friend Michael Schwartz and his fiance Brandy showed me a game called 1000 Blank White Cards (which was originally developed in 1996). Players write pretty much whatever they want on the cards (sometimes while playing the game), and the winner is generally determined by whoever gets the most points. Players take turns playing one card. I had a lot of fun playing the game, but I didn’t like the focus on points. I wanted there to be a different win condition. Continue reading
