Crazier Eights Deck Construction
Magic: the Gathering is the first fantasy card game with deck construction. The game was made to encourage people to make a collection and you can use cards from your collection to make your own deck. I think it can be fun to make your own deck as well. It adds a new element of strategy and self expression. I think Crazier Eights can also have deck construction, and I will discuss what I think is the most promising way to do that here. New Promo Cards for 2021
Each Crazier Eights game you buy from the Recoculous Shop comes with a new unique promo card starting now, while supplies last. Some of them are alternate art versions of cards that were previously released. The new promo cards for Crazier Eights: Olympus & Pantheon were never released before.
We used polls to decide the ability for Palace of Circe, the Olympus promo card. You can see the results of the polls here.
These promo cards will also be available at participating stores.
Additionally, you currently get two of the designated promo card for each game you order. This double promo offer will last until May 1, 2021 or while supplies last.
The promo cards will only be available for a limited time, and only while supplies last.
Take a look below to see the new promo cards.
What is Elysium?
The current plan is that Crazier Eights: Elysium will be the next Crazier Eights game we release. It will continue the Greek mythology theme as was found in Crazier Eights: Olympus & Pantheon.
Every major Crazier Eights game has a significantly different feel.
- Crazier Eights: Camelot had a good number of alternate win conditions.
- Crazier Eights: 1001 Nights only had a couple of alternate win conditions and had a lot of ways to accumulate assets.
- Crazier Eights: Olympus had zero alternate win conditions and a lot of ways to play cards from the draw pile.
- Crazier Eights: Elysium will bring back alternate win conditions with a vengeance. Engine building will also have a bigger role in it — assets will be very powerful when combined in the right ways. Engine building can also be described as synergy or combos, but the concept is mostly used for types of synergy that aren’t totally game winning.
More Ways to Play
There are multiple ways to play Crazier Eights. Some of this requires alternate rules or house rules. Let’s take a look at some of these here. Continue reading
Crazier Eights & 13, the Card Game (Tiến lên)
Although Crazier Eights has an official rule book and the game is made to be played with a specific set of rules, it is possible to play with very different rules. One popular card game is Thirteen (Tiến lên), which was likely invented in Vietnam, and there is a way to play it using Crazier Eights cards. Continue reading
