The Card Frames & Artwork (Edited 6/23/14)

timeshift art2Some people have said that they think the Crazier Eights card frames are from Magic: the Gathering. They aren’t. I made the card frames and there are significant differences between the card frames I use and those used by Magic: the Gathering.

Note that one of my friends is a lawyer and I have talked to him about various legal issues. I will continue to look into any legal issues that are relevant to the game.

Another concern some people have had is where the artwork came from. The illustrator of each card can be found on the bottom left-hand side of each card. The artwork used for the game was in the public domain. You can probably find all of it on Wikimedia Commons. Continue reading

Thoughts on Contests

I am planning on having at least one contest for Crazier Eights. Fabulous prizes await. Here are my current contest ideas:

  1. Design your own card. (No image needed. It could be used for a Crazier Eights card or promo.)
  2. Photoshop a public domain card image. (It could also be used for a Crazier Eights card or promo.)
  3. Find a really cool public domain image. (It could also be used for a Crazier Eights card or promo.)
  4. Trivia questions. (This is quite common on Board Game Geek.)

There would be a grand prize winner who would get one high quality prototype copy of the Jumbo Crazier Eights box (containing two decks worth of cards). I could sign the jumbo promo card and the box. Other prizes could include high quality prototypes of the Crazier Eights game. I would also consider giving out a high quality prototype of Advanced Crazier Eights for a prize.

Your thoughts? Any preference or other ideas for contests?

Crazier Eights is on BoardGameGeek.com

bgg_cornerlogoI submitted Crazier Eights to BoardGameGeek.com, and it can now be found here.

I submitted some images for the game, but they still need to be approved. I wouldn’t mind posting some of the reviews for the game at some point as well. A video of the game does show up.

I also posted a very basic press release to the site here and I look forward to all the comments people want to leave there.

BoardGameGeek.com is probably the most active and important tabletop website.
